Tom Riley, a native of Sharon, CT, purchased the business from his former boss, the late Mort Bloch, in 1985. Prior to owning it, he had been employed as a salesman by Bloch’s for 28 years. While technically retiring in 2005, Tom came back to manage Riley’s in late 2014, as well as to work on the sales floor – much to the delight of our customers. He can be found at the store on most days, greeting old friends and making new ones. Tom’s personal warmth, integrity, product knowledge and reputation for honesty have garnered a loyal following among multiple generations of families served by Riley’s.
Brian Riley is the senior sales person and “grew up” at the store, having worked with his father since Riley’s founding 30 years ago. His intimate knowledge of our product lines and familiarity with changes in styles and trends ensures that customers are well-informed in making their purchasing decisions. As our customers know, Brian’s energy, genuine interest in them and going out of his way to meet their needs are traits rarely found in today’s impersonal world of commerce.
Keith Roger, who managed our warehouse and delivery functions for over 25 years, moved into sales in early 2016. He brings his deep knowledge of our product lines, as well as his familiarity with customers, to the sales floor. In addition to being a sales person, Keith helps us serve customers by doing minor furniture repairs and binding carpeting. Over the years he has also gained expertise in measuring and selling flooring.
Jeff Riley, another of Tom’s sons with Riley’s since 1985, works as an independent contractor installing our carpeting and flooring. Customers frequently compliment Jeff’s pleasant personality and professional demeanor, as well as his perfectionism and attention to detail in his work. Jeff does his best to accommodate our customers’ schedules, often working weekends or evenings as needed.
